A day road trip to Diamond Harbour

Last Sunday, my sis and I visited Diamond Harbour and its surrounding districts, located on Bank Peninsular. The weather was lovely, this spurred us to explore Christchurch further. A day trip was much anticipated.

Needless to say, the scenery was breathtaking. We took Dyers Pass Road, crossing Cashmere Hill, heading towards Governors Bay.

More walkways awaiting to explore.

Sisters on top of the world. ^^

About half an hour later, we reached a small town called Governors Bay. There are Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, and holiday homes available. Good for those who want to get away from the city during the weekends.

Governors Bay.

Tranquility.

In another 20 minutes drive, we arrived at Diamond Harbour. Diamond Harbour got its name from one of the early settlers who observed the sun reflecting on the water, and thought it looked like a thousand shining diamonds. We took a stroll from the cliff top, to the wharf and memorial garden. The view was beautiful indeed.

Yatching at the harbour.

We can see Lyttleton Harbour from here.

Diamond Harbour.

Sunny and unspoilt.

We continued our journey further, to another beach called Purau. The further we drive to, the more beautiful the places tend to get. The untouched beauty is something that we love.

It's real, not a desktop wallpaper!

Glittering from sun reflection.

Hills and rocks.

The best thing about road trip is its flexibility. We can stop by for photos and break, or drive to any destination that we see along the way. My advice is, do make sure your petrol tank is full before the journey starts.

Where we stopped by to enjoy.

Thanks to Navman GPS, we don't have to worry bout getting lost. We drove further to unknown, a place called Port Levy.

Spectacular Port Levy.

So how do you spend your weekend? :D

    Neo: Of course. LOL.

kodok jambul: Haha, we didn't meet frodo. But we experience many places where frodo has been to. ;p The weather in Christchurch is colder, since it's situated southern than Australia. :D
